The City of Lake Saint Louis allows only two garage sales to be conducted at the same location within any calendar year. No garage sale may continue for more than three days. Fences are generally not allowed in Lake Saint Louis unless you have an in-ground swimming pool with a few exeptions. The Residenctial Fence Map (PDF) shows where you may have a fence in Lake Saint Louis. A permit is required prior to installing a fence in your yard.
The current land use regulations were adopted in 1988 and have been amended approximately 180 times. Many of the requirements and processes outlined in the Code are not clearly defined, are onerous, overly complex, contradictory, unenforceable, or have become obsolete. This has led to: inconsistent application of code requirements, delays in plan review and application processing, risk for legal challenges, and confusion and frustration for staff and public.
Additionally, two of the top priorities of the Comprehensive Plan (adopted in 2017) include updating the City’s land use regulations to ensure conformity with the plan’s goals, and to update the zoning map to align with the future land use plan.
Much about the new Code will be different. Parts of the existing Code that have worked well were carried over to the new Code. Additional provisions have been added to bring the Code into compliance with state law and to more closely reflect the intent of the City’s Comprehensive Plan. The content is organized differently and is written in simple, non-technical language. Ambiguous and contradictory provisions eliminated, and new graphics and tables were added.

No. Applications submitted prior to the effective date of the new Code and zoning map will continue to adhere to the regulations and map that are currently in place and processing will continue.
If you do not intend to significantly improve your property, the Code revisions will have limited impact on your property. The updated Code requirements come into effect when you want to make an improvement that would require a development application.

Yes! Once the public comment period is closed, City staff will create updated drafts based on the public comments received. The updated drafts will then be presented to the Planning and Zoning Commission and Board of Aldermen where both bodies will hold public hearings, providing additional opportunity for public comment and consideration before adoption. Meeting dates will be added to this page once they are scheduled.
If your ticket is for a moving violation, yes it will. If it is an equipment violation, then it will not. You can contact the Missouri Department of Revenue via their website to verify this.
The Municipal Court does not assess points against your driver's license. That is a function of the Missouri Department of Revenue. However, you might find that following the advice of an attorney could facilitate a change in the violation charged against you. That could feasibly prevent the assessment of points.
The judge and prosecutor are only available at court sessions.
This is a matter of personal choice that depends largely on the nature of the violation and your past history. For example, if your violation is a drug or alcohol-related offense, it may be in your best interest to consult with an attorney. The Municipal Court cannot and will not provide legal advice.
The judge does expect payment the night of court. If it is your first appearance and you do not have all of the fines/costs, you will need to speak to the judge and set up payments. Once you are on a payment plan, the judge is the only person that can extend or modify that agreement. If you cannot make your payment, you will need to appear on your court date and speak directly with the judge.

The Lake Saint Louis Municipal Court does not "fix" tickets. If you are asking how a ticket can be amended or points reduced, you will need to see an attorney. You might also appear in court without an attorney and speak to the judge to make your request for leniency.
It would be unethical for officers or staff of the Municipal Court to recommend an attorney. You might try contacting the Missouri Bar Association or consulting the Yellow Pages' "Attorneys" section.
The police are acting within their authority to arrest you at any place or time. A warrant for failure to appear in court is no different than any other arrest order. However, if you want to avoid the embarrassment of being arrested in front of your family, friends, fellow students, or coworkers, you have the option of surrendering yourself to your local police department and posting a bond, or paying fines and costs if they have been previously assessed.
You should note that all attempts will be made to satisfy the court's arrest order should you choose not to comply.
This is not in your best interest, unless the person is an attorney. The judge does realize there are extenuating circumstance that may prevent someone from appearing. Therefore, it would be better to have someone appear for you and explain to the judge why you are not there, rather than not have anybody appear at all.

You should appear at the time indicated on your ticket, summons, or other court documents. The court lobby is open and we begin setting up for court at 5 p.m. You will be asked to sign in, and be required to pass through a metal detector - bags and purses will be searched for every ones protection. It is very important to be at court on time, as the doors will be locked when the Judge gives that directive. If the court session is small, we could be done in a half hour or sooner, so please make every effort to be at court no later than 6 p.m.

Allowing a pet to run loose is a violation of City ordinances and may result in a summons being issued and a fine being assessed. Please be a courteous neighbor and a good citizen by appropriately controlling your pet at all times.
The simplest thing to do is drop by the Department and let person who greets you know that you need to be fingerprinted. An officer will assist you as soon as possible. Unfortunately, sometimes all of our on-duty officers are busy and you may have to either wait for a while or come back at another time.

Yes. The fee for obtaining a copy of a specific police report is $5. This fee covers our costs for retrieving and reproducing the documents. In cases where multiple reports are requested or an extensive search is required, a fee of $25 per hour will apply to the time required for research, in addition to the fees noted above for reproduction of the report.

The Lake Saint Louis Police Department has a Police Tip Line citizens can reach by calling 636-625-7995 or by emailing the Tip Line. This service provides the public with an opportunity to provide information about any crime in the City of Lake Saint Louis. Callers may remain anonymous, should they choose to do so.

Children make up more than 60% of all dog bite victims. The National Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates half of all children 12 and younger have been bitten by a dog. The elderly, and home service people like mail carriers and meter readers also are high on the list of frequent dog bite victims.
Cuivre River maintains street lights in the City, you may report problems directly to them. To report street light outages, call 636-695-4895. Please note that there is a placard on each pole about 5-6 feet from the ground with a number posted. To ensure proper service, please make note of that number and give it with your report of your light out.

Storm drains and culverts allow rain water to drain quickly off of roads and yards, and ultimately, into Lake Saint Louis and Lake Sainte Louise.
Leaves and debris should never be placed in or near a storm drain, since rain events can cause debris to wash into the drain, clogging it and contributing to flooding. Additionally, chemicals should never be poured or rinsed into a storm drain. Remember "Drains to Lake". Whatever goes in our storm drains, eventually ends up in the lakes.
Not all storm drains belong to the City of Lake Saint Louis. However, a damaged storm drain should be reported to the Public Works Department. We want to make sure that we continue to have a working storm sewer system. To make a report, call 636-695-4221.
The city is responsible only if the city owns the property. If the property is privately owned then it is the owner’s responsibility.
The property owner is responsible for keeping drainage ways and water ways open. The City does not generally remove fallen trees or tree debris in city gullies unless it is causing a drainage problem.

The City of Lake Saint Louis does not spray for mosquitoes. However, Saint Charles County does spray for mosquitoes.
Source control is highly recommended; mosquitoes breed well in stagnant pools of water. Make sure to remove all possible breeding sites such as flower pots, old tires, etc. Pools of water such as kiddie pools, garden ponds, and bird baths should be changed often to prevent mosquito larvae from becoming a predacious adult. Detention or retention ponds owned by the private property owners, including neighborhood associations are the responsibility of the property owners associations. Larvicide tablets are a good way to control the mosquito larvae.
