Courtroom Standards

  • As the Judge enters the courtroom, please rise.
  • The Court room is open to the public. (SEE COVID NOTICE) If you bring children, please monitor their behavior so they remain quiet at all times.  Any distractions while Court is in session will be addressed on a case by case basis. 
  • We ask that your cell phones be left in your vehicle as they are not allowed in the Courtroom.  If one is heard, it may be confiscated until after court or you may be asked to leave.
  • Fines and costs are due the night of court.
  • Hats should be removed before entering the courtroom.
  • No food or drinks allowed in the courtroom, unless medial conditions require such.
  • No weapons are permitted in the Municipal Court building or any other city building. Metal detectors are used before entering the court facility and you may be required to be searched by court bailiff or Police Officer.
  • Please wear suitable clothing to court.
  • Reading newspapers in the courtroom, particularly if this causes a distraction, generally is not allowed.
  • Sit quietly in the courtroom whenever court is in session.
  • Smoking is prohibited.
  • When addressing the Judge, stand a few feet back from the bench. Do not lean on the bench.
