The Board of Adjustment consists of five members who serve without compensation which are residents of the City appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Board of Aldermen. Three alternate members shall also be appointed to serve in the absence of or disqualification of a regular member. The term of each regular member is five years, and the term for each alternate member is three years.

The Board of Adjustment considers appeals of decisions made by the Community Development Director in the enforcement of the City’s land use regulations, and requests by property owners for variances from the terms of the City’s land use regulations.
