2023 Solid Waste Collection Changes

Effective January 30, 2023, there will be some changes to your Solid Waste and Recycling collection. 

  • Single-Stream Recycling is Back: No more sorting! Residents will be able to combine cardboard, paper, aluminum, tin, and plastics in one single-stream recycling cart. Rigid Recycling Carts will be picked up prior to implementation.  
  • Collection Route Change: Meridian will be changing some of routes to redistribute the weekly workload from three to four days. Routing changes will be provided prior to implementation. 
  • Important Things to Know: 
  • All recycle carts will be services as single-stream recycle beginning January 30, 2023.
  • Residents are asked to place ALL recycle carts curbside on each collection day until the additional cart is removed.
  • Each resident will be notified via mail, email and/or automated call as to the resident's new service day.

Service Day

Service dates vary by location. Click on the above map to view your service day. Solid waste, yard waste, and recycling are picked up on the same service day year-round.

Rates

  • Monthly Rate: $21.79 
  • $65.37 is billed quarterly
  • Senior Citizen Rate: $19.50
  • $58.50 is billed quarterly
  • Optional Additional Weekly Collection (two times a week for garbage only): $12 per month

Rates are effective January 30, 2023 to January 30, 2024.

Garbage Guidelines

  • Additional trash must be placed inside a container
  • Place containerized materials at the curb by 6 a.m. on your collection day
  • Use the Meridian-provided cart. All residents will be provided a Meridian Waste cart by the last week of February

Rate Comparison

The City of O’Fallon, MO, conducts an annual survey on the cost of trash/recycling/yard waste collection & disposal for numberous area communities.  The results to the survey can be found by clicking here.   When comparing Lake Saint Louis to area communities, Lake Saint Louis has one of the lowest monthly rates for trash/recycling/yard collection.  Additionally, residents are not charged for leaving additional containers at the curb or for one bulky item pickup per week.
