LET'S PLAY BALL! The City of Lake Saint Louis Parks and Recreation Department brings you a recreational spring softball and baseball league. The Lake Saint Louis (LSL) Parks and Recreation Department is part of the New Horizons Youth Baseball League (NHYBL). This league consists of Wentzville, New Melle, Flint Hill, Dardenne Prairie, and Wright City. Players/Teams participating in 7U League or older are a part of the NHYBL. Players/Teams participating in T-Ball or Coach Pitch Baseball are not a part of the NHYBL and will play solely at LSL.

League Play

Games will start the week of April 10th. Teams registered through LSL will play their homes games at Founders Park and will play a minimum of half their games at home; away games will be played at any of the cites listed above including LSL. Games will be played Monday through Friday at either 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM and game length can be found in the rule book below. We will keep score and standings for all NHYBL games (7U and older) and 1st and 2nd place teams in each division receive trophies by their home associations. To find your team's schedule, league standing or directions to the field you’re playing at, visit the NHYBL website at www.quickscores.com/nhybl.

LSL T-Ball and Coach Pitch Baseball games will be played on Saturdays and/or Sunday afternoons. T-Ball is an in-house co-ed program designed for 3 and 4 year olds that explores the basic fundamentals of baseball. Coach Pitch is an in-house co-ed league for 5 and 6 year olds. All players will receive an end-of-season trophy for playing.

T-Ball and Coach Pitch teams will be scheduled 8 games, are guaranteed to play 6, and games will be umpired by coaches. The League has adopted a 7 game minimum rule for teams. Only games necessary to reach the minimum (7) will be rescheduled after the drop dead date of July 1st.  Please note that every effort will be made to play all 8 games prior to July 1st.

Machine Pitch Baseball and Softball is played by 7 and 8 year old boys and girls, respectively. This group plays a 10 game season, played Monday through Friday (weather permitting), and occasionally on Saturdays. Teams will travel to other cities for away games as part of the NHYBL. Teams provide their own uniforms. The only City uniform requirement is that each player has a 6-inch number on the back of their shirt.

7U and 8U teams will be scheduled for 10 games.  The league has adopted an 8 game minimum rule for the teams. Only games necessary to reach the minimum (8) will be rescheduled after the drop dead date of July 1st.  Please note that every effort will be made to play all 10 games prior to July 1st.

Practices

Practices for 7U baseball/8U Softball and older will begin the weekend of March 11th. During the preseason, teams may practice twice per week, once during the week and once on the weekend (up to 2.25 hours per week). This will continue until games begin on the week of April 10, then teams will be given 1.25 hours per week (usually on Saturday or Sunday).

T-Ball and Coach Pitch teams will be given 1.25 hours per week and typically will only practice on weekends beginning March 11th. Once games begin, teams typically transition to weeknight practices and have games on the weekends. If you have any questions please email Chris White.

* Please note that practice times are ultimately decided by the volunteer coach and may vary from what's above.

Equipment

Players in 7U and higher will have to provide their own baseball glove and batting helmet. They will also be asked to bring 2 baseballs/softballs to contribute to the team's baseball/softball collection. Recommended equipment would be a baseball bat and cleats, but these are not required. Teams playing 7U and up will order their own uniforms once teams are established and start practicing. A team parent and/or coach will take the lead on uniform orders.

T-Ball and Coach Pitch teams will be provided 5 batting helmets to use for the season, baseballs (safe-t-soft level 3) and practice/game balls. The City will also provide uniforms (shirts and hats) for those participating in T-Ball or Coach Pitch Baseball.

The Bat Rule will be the same as the USSSA.

7.01.C All bats for age divisions 14U and younger must be permanently stamped with the new USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark (Chart 7.01.C), or BBCOR.50 Certified Mark or made of wood and manufactured by a licensed USSSA manufacturer. 7.01.C.1 Effective January 1st, 2020, all 13U players must use a maximum drop 8 (-8) bat with the official USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark permanently stamped. 7.01.C.2 All 14u players must use a maximum drop 5 (-5) bat with the official USSSA 1.15 BPF Mark Permanently stamped.  An example of the stamp can be found at the bottom of this page.
