The Board of Aldermen finds that fireworks can be harmful to the public health and safety. In an effort to reconcile this with the manner in which many residents choose to demonstrate their patriotism and to celebrate the birth of this nation the following guidelines for the use of fireworks has been decided upon.
This year will be the first year that you will be able to shoot off some fireworks. Below are some rules in order to shoot off fireworks:
- You have to be at least 17 or if you are a minor you have to be under constant adult supervision
- You can shoot them off within municipal boundaries of the City only on July 3 & July 4 from 12:00 pm until 10:30 pm
- You are not allowed to shoot off fireworks on city property - this includes city streets, cul-de-sacs or parks
- You are not allowed to discharge or possess any rocket, missile or aerial firework that contains or was originally manufactured with a stick or fin
- You are not allowed to sell fireworks
- Officers will confiscate fireworks if you are found in violation
